1. Some inhabitants of Pike county of Missouri state possessed the prophetic gift. After Tom Sawyer had witnessed in the court of justice against “injun Joe”, they prophesied about Tom Sawyer: “There were some that believed he would be President, yet, if he escaped hanging” (“The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”, XXV).
