Dear Nikolai Evgenievich

Thank you for your email of 11^th November.  Please keep up your peace-making work in southern Russia and the Caucasus, north and south.  Ukraine too is in acute need of peaceful solutions.

I was involved for ten years in an attempt at conflict-resolution in Moldova, and have travelled to Armenia several times, and also to Georgia and Azerbaijan.  I am a long-time defender of the Kurds, whether in Iraq, Turkey or Syria. Friends of mine are working hard with the religious and political extremes in both Palestine and Israel.

I have visited Iraq from Najaf to Erbil, with another friend, Canon Andrew White, who was in Baghdad from 2003 until this year.

Wishing you every blessing in this unusually difficult time.
