The face of Lyndon Baines Johnson – the 36-th POTUS (office: 1963 – 1969) symbolizes the most American kind of Christianity – Christian Restoration Movement (CRM), which includes three streams: Christian Churches, Disciples of Christ, Churches of Christ. “Webster” says about CRM: “It rejects all creeds, holds the Bible as a sufficient rule of faith and practice, administers baptism by immersion, celebrates the Lord’s Supper every Sunday, and has a congregational polity.” CRM follows the famous principle: “Bible saith – we say, Bible is silent – we are silent”. This principle is the essence of the “American soul” and the lode-star of the Americans, as the “nation of the Bible-readers”.

3. The principles of CRM were re-invented into the modern practice by Thomas Campbell (1763 – 1854) and his son Alexander Campbell (1788 – 1866), both worked in USA, but were born in Ireland. Therefore, their enemies name the CRM participants to be the “campbellites” and all the CRM to be the “Campbellism” (with sometimes derogatory connotation). Sure, CRM forgive them. The Disciples of Christ have the standing dialogue commission with Pope in Rome. Thus, the CRM POTUS used to have a Roman Catholic to be his colleague (L. Johnson – J. Kennedy; B. Obama – J. Biden). It let use the Roman Catholics (including the Ukraine Greek Catholics) to spread the ideals of democracy all over the world. The CRM theology has the points of connection with the one of the German “Confessing Church” (Karl Barth, Dietrich Bonhoeffer) and personal prelature of Opus Dei (Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, marquise Peralta). The American Rehabilitation Ministry and Bible Academy (www.ARM.org) is the alive and active part of CRM.
